Miss Ivy Edna, popularly known among her peers and colleagues as Kiky has had a passion for fashion and modeling from a tender age. She chose to pursue her passion and make a difference in the fashion and modeling sphere by being actively involved in the sector as a model and entrepreneur. - Hey how would you like to introduce yourself? My name is Ivy Edna Gakii. I am a model, entrepreneur and a lover of fashion in general.
- When did you discover your passion for modeling? I would say I’ve always had a thing for modeling since i was young. i knew i would pursue modeling when I realized how much I enjoyed watching miss world events and Americas next top model seasons.
- Who are some of the people or icons that you look up to for inspiration? Ajuma, she has overcome so much and created her own fashion empire as well as Adut Aketch- every time I see Aketch walk on the runway, I realize no dream is too big.
- Tell us you about your experience so far in the modeling sector? Modeling is fun though it isn’t easy but definitely worth it. Seeing myself doing the thing i always wanted is so fulfilling. I am looking forward to achieve great opportunities and working with brands as i continue building my career.
- Which modeling projects and events have you participated so far? I have participated in Eatwl Fashion show, I recently casted for 2rare4real models, I have also worked with Shea Africa for their natural hair campaign, I have also done a bridal shoot with a bridal garment company.
- What opportunities and challenges have you encountered so far? Challenges include lack of adequate opportunities especially for beginners, peanut payments or sometime no payments after a gig hence lack of enough funds to run new projects.
- What are your aspirations in modeling this year? I’m hoping to get signed to an agency and am also aimed to cast for a billboard ad, it has always been my wish.
- Which brands do you hope to work with in future? Kenyan brands like home 254, peperuka world, Denri among others, while internationally; Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Herme’s and others
- What are your other interests and hobbies apart from modeling? I enjoy coding, web designing, dancing and I’ve got an eye for art.
