From cohabitation to courtship and marriage, the nature of human relations is ever evolving from day to day. Needless to say, human relations are complex and so is the nature of emotional and psychological hurt that comes from ending of relations without proper closure. In some cases that have become common place, spouses have taken to social media to air their dirty linen and forgotten that in the court of public opinion, their prevailing marital problems might end up getting worse than they were initially dealing with.
Others have resolved to settle their disputes through different channels such as morning radio shows the most popular one being Radio Jambo’s patanisho show that has garnered a massive following and listenership as it exposes different nature of hardships that people go through in marriages. When some couples take to social media to flaunt to others how well their relationship is working out with anniversary photos and showering each other with surprise for example with the recent case of Flaqo and Keranta, its key to remember that not everyone on social media wishes your relation or marriage good tidings.
When such exposed relations don’t work, the so called clout chasers and attention seekers become the object of mockery and scolding by the same social media “friends and followers”. For the emotionally sensitive and not-so strong at heart, they might tend to suffer stress or depression from the despicion and mockery from their failed relationships or marriages. For individuals that are spouse-centered or relationship centered, the find their source of joy and zeal for life anchored not on themselves but on other people often their spouses or significant other.
The reason many people succumb to this stress and emotional hurt is often because of the societal pressure and expectations as well as standards which they hope to live by. In the case of popular Kenyan musician Akothee, a lot can be said about her attention seeking tendencies. For being in the limelight for many years and being well known to have children fathered by different dads, Akothee has been labeled by some as a promiscuous wealth minded individual who might possibly be after wealth than the sanctity of the institution of marriage itself.
In her defense, Akothee has disputed the claims made against her of being a gold digger and marrying White men supposedly for their wealth and status by making the asserting that she is just another hardworking woman who has labored effortlessly to acquire the vast wealth that she possesses.
In her most recent ordeal, Akothee took to social media to express her shock and cancellation of her wedding plans with her spouse popularly known as “omosh” a name adopted by the white lover. She came out exposing the man as an imposter and a total disguise totally opposite of what Akothee knew and though he was. She also claimed emotional and psychological torture by the man and she let the world know that it was over for her and omosh.
The question that stirred up mixed reactions among many of her followers and fans was, “how come Akothee was quick to rush into this marriage without taking time to know her spouse better? What was the rush for? In normal courtship process, its due diligence to find out more about the personal you are dating and intend to marry and seemingly Akothee has not learnt the lession or perhaps its true as they say, “love is blind!”.
