Monster, run! Monster, Hide! The metaverse as we know it will be the next big thing. The reason this new area of creativity and digital era of exploration should be approached with care is because human creativity knows no limit or reason sometimes. When the popular generation Z break out hiphop artist Jack Harlow hints that ‘we are feeding this youngins to the metaverse’, he pretty much knows the metaverse is a monster with no limits to its feeding appetite.
The metaverse just like social media will cause a high level of addiction to the users mainly the youth that will be trapped in the web of the metaverse. As the world we live in presents unlimited challenges, the metaverse will seem to provide an alternative universe that offers perfection. In pursuit of the alternative and perfect life on the metaverse, many will loath reality and in turn option for illusion.
Escapism from reality will render more youth unable to deal with real life situations or address challenges in day to day living. However, it is important to know that not everyone has an interest in the virtual world but the appeal of it will draw so many to the metaverse where their lives will be crashed and made more deplorable.
The level of engagement will be limited to virtual people but the illusion will make it feel more real than fake. Social skills of the youngins on the metaverse will also be impaired to a great extent as you can click and log into a world that you ideally create yourself where there are no limits.
